Youth Privacy & Safety

Evolve is designed from the ground up to protect participants under 18. These protections are enabled automatically when a participant identifies as a minor during check-in.

When a participant checks the "I am under 18" box, enhanced privacy protections are immediately and automatically applied to their account. No additional steps are needed.

🔒 What we protect

Name masking. Public profiles and sponsor-facing views display first name and last initial only. "Taylor Johnson" becomes "Taylor J." across the platform.
No public contact information. Email addresses, phone numbers, and personal details are never displayed publicly for youth accounts.
Sponsor visibility controls. If a youth participant has a sponsor, the sponsor sees progress and milestones but not personal identifying information. Participants control what sponsors can see.
No direct messaging. Sponsors and mentors cannot directly message youth participants through the platform. All communication flows through the participant's organization.
No location tracking. Evolve records event names and dates but does not track or display specific locations for youth participants.
Portfolio privacy. If a youth participant builds a professional portfolio, it uses masked naming by default. Full name display requires explicit opt-in.
Minimal data collection. We collect only what is needed to maintain a service record: name, email, and event attendance. No sensitive personal data, no social media, no photographs required.

🏠 For parents and guardians

Your child's record belongs to them. The service record is portable and owned by the participant, not by any organization, school, or sponsor.
Organizations manage events, not personal data. When your child checks in at an event, the hosting organization sees attendance. They do not gain access to your child's broader service history or personal details.
Sponsorship is transparent. If someone sponsors your child's Evolve access, both parties can see the sponsorship relationship. The sponsor sees growth milestones, not personal information.

🏛 For organizations working with youth

Nothing changes about your events. Youth protections are handled at the platform level. You continue running events and managing attendance exactly as you do today.
Compliant by default. Youth accounts automatically receive enhanced protections. Your organization does not need to configure privacy settings for individual minors.
Grant-ready safety posture. Having documented youth privacy protections strengthens grant applications, particularly for youth development, workforce readiness, and community impact funding.
